Natural Learning Community

What is Natural Learning?

Click here to watch a short video about Natural Learning.

One learns to live, not by hearing of other lives, but by living; for words are infinitely less important than acts.
A.S. NEILL, Founder of the Summerhill School

Natural Learning is a way of life; a way of looking at the world and at children. It is child-led, interest-driven, organic, eclectic and self-directed learning. For some, it is “unschooling.”

Natural Learning is based on the idea that real learning happens through a voluntary investment of our hearts and minds in something that matters to us.

Trust is the foundation of Natural Learning. We trust that our children will learn through natural life experiences including play, household responsibilities and social interactions.

What is a Natural Learning Community?

Argyll’s Natural Learning Community is a conscious community of learners, sharing a similar philosophy about learning.

Natural Learners Believe:

  • curiosity is innate; children are born with the desire and are driven to learn
  • life itself is the teacher and we are in a state of constant learning
The earth is the school and the world is our classroom.
ALBERT EINSTEIN, Nobel Physicist
